Yes – In Australia a drafsperson, building designer or an architect must be registered practicioner to provide you drawings for a building permit (even if it is just a site plan). Make sure to ask your draftsperson whether they are registered if require drawings to submit for a building application.
In most States and Territories you need a registered draftsman to provide you drawings for your town planning application. It will depend on your local council’s requirements so make sure you ask if that is a applicable for your project.
If you only require drawings for design and conceptual purposes where the drawings are not submitted to authorities, you do not need to engage a registered draftsperson.
